Exciting Changes in Tempe
Last month, a couple of our Collective Members passed on some exciting news about a group of leaders in the local fashion industry here in Arizona. It turns out that they got an option to utilize the old Performing Arts Center in downtown Tempe to develop a new Apparel industry and full-service production company.
I'm talking about The Arizona Fashion Source and the Arizona Apparel Foundation run by Sherri Barry and Angela Johnson.
It's a huge space that suits their industry just perfectly. It had been vacant for a while and needed some love, but their vision was clear and they were highly motivated to make it happen.
Partnering to Support the Community
Shortly after acquiring the space, these ladies started working on activating the building space and one of the first things they did was to seek room sponsorships. Great idea!
At the time I certainly wasn't pondering anything like that for our Collective - but as I thought about it I quickly realized the connection. We are all makers - they may focus on fabric and apparel but they are no less artisans than our members who craft their wares with wood or metal.
I jumped at the chance to be a part of the new building and maker community and we are now the proud Sponsors of a great space upstairs on the second floor. How lovely to be able to help out in a small way and how fun to get to know these amazing artisans in our community.
Grand Opening of the AZ Fashion HQ
These folks have put together a huge Grand Opening Event and you can buy tickets to participate, and get a tour of the space, see the fashion show and more.
Location: 132 E. Sixth Street, Tempe, AZ
All the details can be found here.
I will be there to show our Arizona-Artisans-Collective-Sponsored space and support their event. Come say hello!
